The El Lobo
Fuel Cell
The Creative Brief
El Lobo Cycles commissioned a fuel cell designed to break new ground in the custom motorcycle world. The vision was to introduce a silhouette that was a first in the chopper scene—merging the raw, aggressive stance of a traditional chopper with the advanced material science of Formula 1.
The goal was to create a complex, compound-curve design that pushed the boundaries of what is visually possible, necessitating a geometry achievable only through advanced composite engineering.
Scope of Work:
- 3D Scanning of Chassis
- Class-A Surface Modelling
- 3D Printed Prototyping
- Negative Mold Engineering
- Autoclave Curing
The Engineering
We began by 3D scanning the rolling chassis to define exact hard points. To validate this novel form factor, we produced full-scale 3D printed prototypes to verify lines and ergonomics before committing to tooling. We then engineered a high-precision negative mold to ensure perfect surface fidelity.
The final component utilizes a specific layup schedule engineered for **shatter-proof** structural integrity, prioritizing rider safety under impact. To manage thermal dynamics, we applied our **proprietary tank insulation epoxy formula**, ensuring fuel temperatures remain stable even under aggressive operating conditions.
